Andor Episode 5 Review- Pacing slows down considerably

After four straight riveting episodes, Andor's story slows down in Episode 5, as Cassian finds himself among a group of committed rebels. I found the first two episodes to be well made and gripping and episodes 3-4 to be masterpieces. Episode 5 was a bit of a drag. It had its moments, but was a departure in tone from the previous 4.

Of course, for a season that's a whopping 12 episodes long, 4 episodes longer than any season of The Mandalorian, this isn't a surprise. The writers can take things forward slowly and with greater attention to details, such as exploring the personal lives of imperial officers.

As always, the visuals and cinematography remain superb. The writing, especially the dialogues are some of the best that Star Wars has ever seen, and the performances stand out, especially those of Genevieve O' Reilly, Stellan Skarsgard, and and Diego Luna. It's obvious the show had a gigantic budget and hopefully the same can be afforded for upcoming Star Wars series.

I do think, however, that the show strays too far from the Star Wars spirit in terms of its heavy reliance on human characters and almost none belonging to other species. The variety of species is what gives Star Wars its distinct fantasy/sci-fi flavor. Also, apart from B2EMO, there are no other droids and he has also gone missing in recent episodes.

Lets see what surprises await us in the upcoming episodes. We're nearly half way through the season! Keep checking The Whistling Bird for more updates on all things Star Wars.
