The Empire's rule cast a shadow over their childhoods. The trauma continued for them until they found their place in the Rebellion, ultimately leading them to Scarif, where they were able to find the Death Star plans and transfer the data. Currently, The Mandalorian and all shows within its timeline show us a glimpse into a post Return of the Jedi galaxy, and if they had lived, Jyn and Cassian would have finally been able to live outside the shadow of the Empire.
Of course, this seems impossible since there's no way the ending of a hit film like Rogue One can be changed, but it is nice to imagine heroes of the Rebellion getting a chance to taste the fruits of their labor. Also, it would have allowed for brilliant characters like Jyn and Cassian to finally find some happiness after spending years in almost perpetual turmoil under the Empire. Andor is written brilliantly and has added many layers to Cassian's character. Diego Luna's performance is another reason why I can't help it but wish we could see more of him.
What did you think of the ending of Rogue One? Should Cassian and Jyn have survived?Do you want to see more of Jyn and Cassian's adventures in the galaxy?
